Designing an inclusive and anti-racist summer project: questions and reflections

During the marketplace in October, students asked guidance on how to ensure that their summer project is not prejudice or racist. We reflected a lot on the question and decided to create an event that would foster critical thinking around the notions of       inclusivity, diversity and anti-racism rather than share some type of "rules of thumb".

During this round table discussion (via Zoom details below) titled "Designing and inclusive and anti-racist summer project: questions and reflections" on December 10th, 2020 at 6.00pm (BST), four alumni/staff from different ethnic background and representing the three LSHTM faculty will share their experiences and reflections with students on how to conduct inclusive and anti-racist research. Students will be able to ask questions at anytime and there won't be a PowerPoint.

Open to staff as well!

The discussion will cover questions and reflections around:

- I don't know how to talk about these issues in this space

- Positionality as a non-white researcher in a predominantly white space

- Positionality as a white researcher in a predominantly non-white space

- Does reflectivity applies to quantitative research too?

- What is Participatory Action Research (PAR) and how it has been used (here)
